Miracles do happen

Although in this period everybody is following the football world championship from Africa, today the Romanians have once more a reason to be proud, the handball male team qualified to the 2011 world championship after a wonderful game with the Russian team. After loosing home with 28-32 they fought for a victory with more then 5 points in order to qualify and they did it. The final score of the second game was 32-37, with the Romanian team continuously leading their adversaries.

Last Saturday I had the chance to go and see them playing in the first game, but I was very disappointed with the defeat and I did not hope for such a final result. At the end of today’s game I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down my cheeks…the happiness reflected on their faces was overwhelming.

The 2011 championship will take place in Sweden and the draw for the group stage will reveal our future adversaries on the 9th of July. Hope we have an easy group. Until them we can keep our fingers crossed.
