The amazing human body

Last night I went out with some friends in Excalibur, a place where they serve huge plates with meat, potatoes and some vegetables. We’ve made quite a tradition. One month ago when we first went there we were 10, now I think at one moment we were 17:). You should think we should have learned from the last time how much we can eat and drink in one night...but no, we didn’t, so at the end there was still plenty of food left (at least this time we asked to take it home).

I began with this brief story because I want to talk about the amazing human body and how well a person really knows his body. I sometimes get scared of my own body. We frequently make the mistake and take it for granted, believing that nothing bad can happen as we are young and strong...well it’s not like that anymore. I’m not going to start talking about the ugly things that can happen to a body while for example is “eaten” from inside out by a cancer...this should be a funny post, that is why I give 10 of the most (from my point of view) interesting things about a human body:

1. In a lifetime, the average person produces about 25,000 quarts of saliva, enough to fill two swimming pools.
2. Your nose can remember 50,000 different scents.
3. Scientists say the higher your I.Q. The more you dream.
4. There are as many hairs per square inch on your body as a chimpanzee. You don’t see all of them because most are too fine and light to be noticed.
5. The highest recorded speed of a sneeze is 165 km per hour.
6. Kissing can aid in reducing tooth decay. This is because the extra saliva helps in keeping the mouth clean.
7. Scientists say that babies that are breastfed are more likely to be slimmer as adults than those that are not breastfed.
8. The average person walks the equivalent of twice around the world in a lifetime.
9. One human hair can support 3 kgs of weight.
10. The average person falls asleep in about 12 to 14 minutes.

Despite all the amazing things it can do, this gadget named “the human body” needs considerable attention and caution from the one controlling it. We sometimes forget that it’s something physic, that can get hurt and even destroyed and only when it really fights back through pain we panic and “feed” it with chemicals, which may, for the moment take the pain away, but on the long run intoxicates your body.

Nowadays it’s almost impossible to have a healthy life, as everything we eat is contaminated, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the whole fucking planet are polluted...what is there left to do???

I am the master of my own body, but unfortunately I cannot control all the factors affecting it. Each one has his obsessions about this issue and thinks it has the solution for good life and many of them, sticking to those obsessions get to have a happy life, no matter for how many years.

I wish you all a long, healthy and happy life.

Love u. Take care.
